Itida: 15 African countries registered with the Presidential Initiative for the development of electronic games

Dr. Hossam Othman, Executive Vice President of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency [ITIDA], revealed that 15 African countries have registered in the Presidential initiative to train some 10,000 young Egyptians and Africans to develop digital games and applications using the latest technology. Electronic games, whose global market is about $ 140 billion, according to some reports.

Othman said in an exclusive interview with "Day Seven" that among those countries South Africa, Algeria, Togo, Madagascar, Cameroon and other countries along with Egypt, and the duration of the initiative for about 3 years is training about 3,000 young people annually.

Over the past few years, a number of ideas have emerged that have turned into successful startups such as group and individual transport applications and other applications, as well as the ITIDA Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center for many youth ideas.

Competitions are held to select the winning projects for the establishment of companies where these competitions are held every six months over a period of three years duration of the initiative.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi launched the initiative to train 10,000 young Egyptians and Africans to develop electronic games and digital applications on the sidelines of the Cairo Telecom Conference and Exhibition last December.
