Instagram announces a new feature to provide the Internet package

InStagram announced a new enabling feature that allows users to reduce the amount of data consumed on the image sharing system.

According to gadgetnow, Instagram said the feature was designed specifically for emerging markets, where data plans and Internet speeds may be limited.

By putting this in place, people around the world can view their favorite content on Instagram, while reducing download time by reducing the amount of data that Instagram uses on their mobile phones.

Once enabled, videos will not be uploaded in advance and HD images will not be downloaded unless certain conditions are selected by the user.

Users can choose whether they never want to see high-definition media or want to see this content when they're on Wi-Fi or cellular / Wi-Fi connections, and this feature will be available globally to Android users.

"With this data-saving feature, we hope to have an intermittent experience of Instagram in slow network areas, which in turn will increase people's interaction with their friends and family," said Manish Chopra, Director and Head of Partnerships, Facebook, India.
