Cairo airport authorities control firearms and drugs in two smuggling attempts
The customs of Cairo International Airport, under the chairmanship of Tariq Mohamed Mahmoud Acting Director of the Department, seized two attempts to smuggle a firearm, a quantity of hashish and narcotic drugs that are forbidden to be acquired, exported, imported or traded in accordance with the Drugs Law No. 182 of 1960 and in violation of the Weapons and Ammunition Act No. 394 of 1954, Human Drugs in violation of the Pharmacy Profession Law No. 127 of 1955 and its amendments and the Customs Law No. 66 of 1963 and its amendments and the Import and Export Law No. 118 of 1975.
Sources said that during the completion of the inspection of passengers on the flight of the aircraft of EgyptAir coming from Rome, Mohamed Abdel Baqi, the traffic officer of an Egyptian passenger coming from Italy, tried to exploit the overcrowding on the occasion of the advent of Eid al-Fitr for smuggling, The X-Ray scan was confirmed. A committee was established to inspect the luggage of the passenger. It was found that there was a fireball, 50 grams of hashish and a quantity of tamol tablets hidden inside the fax machine.
In the second attempt, Abdel Latif Mohammed al-Husseini, the traffic officer of an Egyptian passenger coming from Italy, and the acting director of the department, decided to pass his personal luggage on the X-ray machine. The suspect was confirmed. A passenger luggage inspection committee was established.
