Arab Writers Union Warns the Right Poet Farid Barakat
The Secretary-General of the General Union of Arab Writers and Authors, Habib Sayegh, sent a cable of condolences to the poet Dr. Mubarak Salimin, President of the Union of Yemeni Writers and Writers, in which the great poet and journalist Farid Barakat (1946- 2019)
Al-Sayegh stressed the great loss suffered by the Yemeni culture in the departure of Barakat, who is considered one of the most important poets and journalists in the brotherly Yemen. He also practiced party politics and was arrested for two and a half years. He is also one of the founders of the Union of Yemeni Writers and Journalists Aden.
The Secretary-General of the General Federation of Arab Writers and Writers, in his telegram, noted the great role played by Yemen's intellectuals, writers and writers, both at the internal level in leading the national action for the advancement of Yemen and its prosperity, or at the Arab level. Library shelves in all countries of the Arab world, and the great literary names that came out of Yemen in poetry, story, novel and literary criticism in various arts and literature.
Sayegh said that this is not strange and not surprising in a country such as Yemen, whose civilization is one of the oldest civilizations known in the world, the civilization of Sheba, and the country is the first to build dams, dam Marib, to serve development and economic and social welfare. Therefore, the Yemeni soil is born, and will continue to give and provide the Arab culture with more intellectuals and literary writers.
The late poet and journalist Farid Barakat received his education until the high school in Aden, Yemen. He then joined Cairo University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. He held a number of cultural sites, including the editor of the New Culture magazine, which was founded in Yemen in 1970, Minister of Culture of Yemen, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Deputy Director of the International Media Committee for Radio and Television Affairs.
