Tanta Museum is the only museum in the province of Gharbia, but it has been closed for 18 years and is currently being rehabilitated and developed by the Projects Sector at the Ministry of Antiquities. The Tanta Museum includes 8579 pieces of antiquities from different ages, ranging from Pharaonic, Roman and Greek times. The Tanta Museum is the only preserved archaeological museum in the province. It was closed for 18 years.

The development work within the Tanta Museum included the renovation of the museum building, its structural treatment and the development of two new display latrines. The Scenario Screening Committee also changed its presentation scenario. The development plan includes developing a scenario for the museum display in a new way to highlight the artifacts in it in the best form, For different historical eras. The display of the exhibition is divided into two parts. The first section includes the archaeological discoveries of the excavations that were carried out in Gharbia Governorate. The second section includes pieces that symbolize daily life, resurrection and immortality.

The museum building consists of five floors, the first floor of the services, the second and the third floor to display the various artifacts, the fourth floor is dedicated to the administrative offices of the museum staff, and the fifth floor is a lecture and conference hall.
