Alaa Abed: We will file a complaint before the Human Rights Council in Geneva to expose the violations of Qatar
MP Ala 'Abed, head of the Human Rights Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the exposure of Egyptian citizens to enforced disappearance in Qatar is a violation of all international standards and covenants related to human rights, noting that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms that no one can be arbitrarily arrested, detained or deported.
Abed condemned in a statement issued by the Qatari authorities the arrest of Egyptian citizens Walid Abdel Aziz and Ali Mohamed Salem for seven months without charge or even informing their relatives of any details of the circumstances or reasons for their detention and preventing them from communicating with them. Qatar to release them immediately.
MP Ala 'Abed said that as an international lawyer he will file a legal and human rights complaint to stand by the victims and submit this complaint to the Human Rights Council, which will hold its 41st session in Geneva from June 24 to July 12 after Doha has committed such serious violations. The United Nations Special Envoy on Enforced Disappearances, in particular that such measures are legal and guaranteed by international human rights instruments.
The Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights stressed that he would expose these policies to the national terrorist regime represented by Tamim Bin Hamad and his criminal gang in front of the whole world and in all international forums after committing such crimes in violation of international human rights instruments.
