Oral cancer is a type of cancer that is not heard and is caused by a tumor in the lining of the mouth, may be on the surface of the tongue or edges of the cheeks or the roof of the mouth (palate) or lips or gums, NHS

The tumors can also develop in the glands that produce saliva, tonsils in the back of the mouth, and part of the throat that connects your mouth to the pharynx, which is less common.

Symptoms of oral cancer

Symptoms of oral cancer include:

• A sore mouth that does not heal within several weeks.

• Continuous lumps in the mouth or neck do not disappear.

• Unexplained dental laxity .

• Unjustified or persistent numbness or a strange feeling on the lip or tongue.

• Sometimes, white or red spots on the lining of the mouth or tongue – these may be early signs of cancer .

• Changes in speech mode .

Check with your doctor or dentist if these symptoms do not heal within three weeks.
