Two highly preserved gold necklaces were exhibited at the Guangdong Museum of China, along with many other artifacts from the Song Dynasty.

The two gold necklaces were found in the wreckage of a ship named Nanhai I, 800 years old, according to the Daily Mail website.

The ship was designated for cargo transportation and was known to be the oldest known wrecker of China, traveling outside China toward the Indian Ocean along the Silk Road, the researchers said.

Director of the China Underwater Archeology Institute, Jiang Bo, told the UNESCO Corrier newspaper: The most likely scenario for the sinking of the ship is that it was overloaded.

The old ship was one of the commercial vessels in the ocean, about 72 feet (22 meters) long and about 30 feet (9 meters) wide.

Sun Jian, the technical director of the Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection Center, said the Nanhai first model was a widely used model in antiquity and was designed with high safety standards and good cargo load and wave resistance.

Although the shipwrecks have been buried in the seabed for about eight centuries, the Nanhai structure has preserved tens of thousands of ancient ruins.
