Study confirms: Birds' personalities are affected by age and experience

science and technology

University of Alberta biologists have conducted a new study showing that differences in bird personalities are related to age and experience.

According to the site "phys", the study examined the red dredge, a species of medium-sized coastal birds that multiply in the Canadian North Pole and in winter in northwestern Europe.

The researchers also assigned 90 birds they studied over two years, comparing the behavioral and physiological characteristics of adult birds and juveniles.

While the two age groups allowed researchers to identify changes that were due to age, during this time, birds had the same type of experience in life, including a diverse diet.

At the beginning of the experiments, individuals showed differences in their behavior, suggesting that there was something about the individual changing experiments that help maintain differences. Individual differences in behavior were maintained by the birds during the study period, but physiological characteristics such as size in each bird became more Similarity.
