YouTube has unveiled its new plan to curb hate speech, extremist views and eliminate the wrong content on its platform amid mounting criticism about its handling of potentially harmful videos.

According to the Daily Mail, the company said it would take more steps to eliminate videos that promote violence and extremism, such as glorifying Nazism and egg discrimination, and would remove videos that attempt to transmit such content.

Experts predict this action will result in the removal of thousands of channels and videos that violate their newly created content policies. However, YouTube has not identified any specific accounts that will be affected.

YouTube says the new policy will come into effect today, although it will take several months to be fully implemented.

"Today we are taking another step in our hate speech policy by banning videos that justify discrimination or exclusion based on characteristics such as age, gender, race, class, religion or sexual orientation," YouTube said.
