Re-incarceration of defendants for 45 days on charges of publishing false news
The Cairo Criminal Court has renewed the detention of Ahmed S and Sayed A for 45 days on charges of spreading false news that would affect national security and join a group established in violation of the law and the constitution.
The prosecution charged the defendants with case no. 621 of 2018 to confine the security of a superior state to committing the crimes of joining a group established contrary to the provisions of the law, which is intended to call for disabling the provisions of the constitution and laws and preventing state institutions and public authorities from carrying out their work.
The prosecution also charged the accused with publishing false news about the political and economic situation in the country with the aim of disturbing the general peace within the framework of the terrorist group's objectives and promoting the group's aims aimed at undermining confidence in the Egyptian state and its institutions.
