Dozens of farmers at the Husseiniya center in the northern province of Sharqiya called on eastern governor Mamdouh Gharab to solve the shortage of irrigation water after their agricultural crops became threatened with droughts.

Mohammed Abdullah, a member of the Husseiniya Center, said that the irrigation water had not reached the Badran canal for 20 days. It is part of the Siraj Bandar al-Husseiniya canal. It is a main canal on which the farmers depend on the irrigation of 3 thousand feddans in the area. Of agricultural crops, especially rice, which needs water continuously at the beginning of cultivation.

He added that most of the people in Husseiniya depend on agriculture for their livelihood, planting agricultural crops and selling them. In case of non-arrival of irrigation water, farmers will return with great losses.

He appealed to the people of Husseiniya Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, governor of the east, to quickly intervene and put a solution and address the Directorate of Irrigation.

For his part, Dr. Asmaa Abdel-Azim, media advisor to Sharkia Governorate, said that Dr. Mamdouh Gharab has been working with Magdy El-Shahat, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Irrigation in the governorate, to solve the shortage of irrigation water in the north of the governorate. The return of water to the canal in a few days, explaining that it will communicate again with the Deputy Directorate of Irrigation and inform him complaint Husayniyah.
