Nestlé initiates campaign to clean the Nile River of plastic materials

In celebration of the International Day of the Oceans, and within the framework of corporate responsibility and the vital role played by the private sector with civil society to achieve sustainable development goals, Nestlé invited the company's employees and charitable and non-profit organizations to participate in the Nestlé Initiative to clean the Nile River from plastic waste. Pollution and waste for a better future.

The event was held on June 8 at the Sea Scout Club in Cairo in partnership with the "Youth of Egypt" and the Ministry of Irrigation, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Environment in coordination with similar events held in different countries in which Nestlé works to clean the seas, rivers and oceans of the materials. It is worth mentioning that the International Ocean Day was celebrated in nearly 35 countries around the world from Nestle countries.

About 200 volunteers, employees and their families participated in the initiative, who succeeded in extracting about 2 tons of plastic waste from the banks and waters of the Nile River. The effectiveness included many activities that provided awareness programs and awareness to participants in the importance of eliminating pollution by reducing plastic waste, which had a detrimental effect on the environment and marine life and how to properly dispose of them such as recycling.
