The novel "Valley of the Dom" .. Alaa Farghali looking for peace and war in a desert oasis
This novel is the second novel by the author after the novel "Khair Allah al-Jabal" which was published in 2016, and won the prize for best work for the youth writers category novel branch organized by Sawiris Cultural Foundation.
The novel tells the story of the "Doma", a virgin land spot deep in the desert, surrounded by rocky cliffs and sand dunes, surrounded by palm trees and acacia. An oasis of Rabbaniyah, whose water comes from Ein Fayyadah, no hand is planted, or a sickle reap.
It is found by a Sahrawi travel guide named Shaheen, about 120 years ago, during his search for the mythical "Zarzoura" oasis that was frequented by young men and women.
In the middle of the caravan road, the shahine and its courtyard are located at the middle of the caravan road between the oases of the Dakhla and the lands of Libya, calling it the "Doma". It brings those who help it to build it and will keep some of the good people who dream of peace, peace and tranquility.
But this desert is harsh with its sand, its riches and its rugged mountains. Domma is not hidden from the eyes of the people, and the eternal greed. This small oasis soon becomes a forum for armies, thieves, valleys and mujahedeen. Englishmen, two Chaldeans, two "Mahdi" and two "Sinusian" brothers, and raiders and smugglers, each with its own motto, banner, and motto. Al-Domma expresses these major facts, one after the other, until it is subjected to a bombardment in the early nineties, the current time of the novel, without anyone knowing the source of the bombing or its causes.
From the time the Shahin found Doma in the 1880s, and until one of the grandsons opened the Transistor radio to hear the song "African Games" in Cairo in the early 1990s, the story unfolds. How will the "Duma" be so engrossed in this mix of human beings, how will its life be colored by the color of these great events, and how will its children resist survival?
