Portugal's Portuguese newspaper Newsport reported that the Consumer Protection Commission had purchased eight different types of salim products and sent them to the lab for the chemical test. The results showed that five samples proved safe.

The agency also noted that children are increasingly making selim themselves at home using materials such as shaving foam, gel gel, boric acid and contact lens fluids,.
