(Microsoft) plans to invest $ 100 million in Africa

science and technology

The US software giant Microsoft has announced plans to invest $ 100 million in Africa to create a technology development center with two branches in Kenya and one in Nigeria.

The company said in a statement that it made this decision because Africa is a new market for them and it has a large number of features, most notably the abundance of labor.

Jim Galvez, regional director of Microsoft Middle East and Africa, said in an exclusive interview with French newspaper Le Monde that the center is due to open in five years from now. He said Africa is the land of the future because of its advantages.

He explained that the company's officials started working on the infrastructure necessary to take advantage of this opportunity and then opened the door wide to all African countries, so the company initially established an integrated data center in South Africa.

Galvez said it was about investing $ 100 million between infrastructure and people, but the most important issue was the training that was to take place in universities and governments. A whole team was working to train one person through training and development programs Through which the local economy can be developed, which is of concern to the company in the first place.

The project will contribute to the development of applications related to AI and computer learning in Microsoft Office, Windows and Microsoft Azure.
