Esperance Tunisia to return Champions League Cup and medals to "K"

World football

The team will return the African Champions League and medals to the African Football Confederation (CA) and will file their complaint to the International Sports Court (CAS).

The head of the committee said in a statement on Saturday that the club will submit directly file complaint to the (Cass) to challenge the decision of the Emergency Committee Kaff on the events of the final match against Wydad Casablanca Moroccan.

He added: "Make sure that the source of the decision is the executive office of KAF and therefore we will resort directly to the cup, and we have not yet received a written official but we will restore the title and medals, unless the Union issued a decision to suspend implementation"He said.

The emergency committee, which met on Tuesday and Wednesday in Paris, decided to re-match the final leg of the African Champions League final between Esperance and Morocco, which took place at the Rades in Tunisia, in a neutral country after the African Cup of Nations because the match conditions and safety were not provided.

The controversy surrounding the game was mainly about the absence of the video referee technique (VAR) and the protest of the Wydad players against not counting a goal against Esperance, and then refusing to resume playing.

Jamaican referee Bakari Gasama ended the match between the two teams after a break of about an hour and a half since the 60th minute when Esperance was ahead (1-0) to compute the final time for Esperance with the withdrawal of Wydad.
