Court of Cassation supports life imprisonment and aggravated for 215 accused in the events of the mosque Fath
The Court of Cassation on Monday rejected the appeal of the defendants in the case of the events of Al-Fath Mosque and supported their sentence from the Criminal Court, with sentences ranging from life imprisonment to severe imprisonment.
The Criminal Court sentenced 22 defendants and absentees to life imprisonment, including Salah Sultan, Ahmed Al Mughair, Abdul Rahman Al Barr, Saad Amara and Abdul Rahman Azz.
The court also sentenced 15 years in prison to 17 defendants, 10 years in prison, 54 defendants and absentees for 13 accused, and 10 others in absentia for 88 years.
Prosecutors referred the defendants to the trial on charges of committing acts of sabotage in the vicinity of Al-Fath mosque, gathering and bullying on the 16th and 17th of August 2013. The defendants were also charged with vandalizing public and private facilities, obtaining automatic firearms, katyushas, ammunition and explosives, cutting off public transport and endangering the lives of citizens.
