Because of the change of hormones .. The pills increase epileptic seizures for women

Health and Medical

NEW YORK [Reuters Health] – Certain types of contraceptives can increase the risk of increased nerve attacks in women with epilepsy, according to a recent scientific study.

The researchers explained that epilepsy is a disorder caused by nerve cells in the brain, stressing that over the course of life, one in every 26 people will be diagnosed with this disorder, pointing out that men and women are equal in terms of injury.

The researchers found in the recent study that women who use hormonal contraceptives and suffer from epilepsy are more likely to have multiple seizures that are difficult to control.

The hormones that control menstruation and pregnancy can lead to increased nerve attacks in women with epilepsy, the researchers note.

Dr Samba Reddy, of the Texas School of Medicine, said the essential ingredient in oral contraceptives was "estrogen," confirming that the derivative causes disorders in female hormones, thus increasing epileptic seizures.
