Launching of a GLONASS satellite for positioning from northern Russia

MOSCOW – Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday the launch of a satellite within the satellite group based on the Russian GLONASS system to locate the Soyuz 2.1B spacecraft from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome space launch port 800 km north of Moscow.

The space mission of the Russian space air force successfully launched the Soyuz 2.1B spacecraft, with the GLONASS satellite on board, to locate the fourth launch pad at Plesetsk Cosmodrome, the Russian news agency SPOTNIK reported.

The statement added that all pre-launch and launch actions were carried out in accordance with the natural model. This is the first launch of Soyuz II from Plesetsk in 2019.
