The Portuguese police arrested three English fans following the riots in Porto before the 9-0 defeat of England against the Netherlands at the Avonso Henriques stadium in the semi-finals of the European Nations Championship .

The English newspaper Daily Mail reported that English fans threw bottles at the police to chase them and arrest three of them among Portuguese fans.

The newspaper said the ugly scenes hit Porto after some 20,000 English fans fell to watch their country's match with the Dutch mills, explaining that riot police used shields to deal with the violence and riots, which led to the escape of fans across the streets.
